Hello! I am so excited to share with you my stop on the George + Ginger Festival Fever blog tour!

There’s nothing like an outdoor concert or music festival in the summer time. It’s a completely different experience than going to a concert hall. The people, the food, the vendors, the overall feeling is just so warm and carefree.

When I am at a festival, I really do love to people watch and see everyone’s different style and culture come through in their clothing. As a seamstress I find that I see things in a completely different perspective, and that’s why festival wear is so interesting to me.

When I was looking for inspiration for what I was to make, I came across some photos of Jimi Hendrix in this classic jacket. Combining that with elements of Steampunk, and subtle hints of lace, I started drawing croquis of how I could modify my favorite G+G pattern; the Rival Dress into a coat using jacquard knit from Boho Fabrics, lace, pleather, and denim buttons. I am so pleased with the results, and have dubbed this my “Steampunk Jimi” jacket! IMG_7088IMG_7091.jpg

If you’d like to see a basic tutorial on how I achieved this look, click here.

Because I have a tendency to go overboard, I also created two dresses using floral french terry fabric and appliqués from Boho Fabrics, using this amazing Drama Dress pattern. There are so many options that come with this dress, so be sure to check them all out!

I absolutely love these dresses, they are so free spirited and cheery. Most importantly they have pockets!IMG_7069

I even tried on my jacket over top of one for a little extra swagger

I hope you enjoyed my little stop on the blog tour! Be sure to check out the other stops in the tour for more summer love!

  1. I love that yellowish drama dress! I grew up in a town with a small town music festival next year i may use it as inspiration for the event. Thank you!
